Lancashire, Yorkshire, Cheshire and Cumbria are blessed with some of the lushest grazing land in Britain. So why wouldn't we source a significant proportion of our freshest meat from within these four counties?



Our buyers are always on the look out for local suppliers with a real love for what they do. Their efforts have led to a remarkable range of quality meat, including Herdwick lamb from the Lake District, Saltmarsh lamb from the Cumbrian coast.


A pure-bred lamb unique to the fells of the Lake District, Herdwick is at its best between January and May. Because we pay above market prices, the few farmers who still rear this ancient breed now receive a valuable and regular source of income. And by stocking Saltmarsh lamb between July and November, we are able to offer local, fresh lamb virtually all year round.


Over the years we’ve built up close relations with many of our suppliers. All the meat we sell is farm assured, with each supplier being audited annually. We also have a purpose built facility for processing and packing our own products – including 15 varieties of Booths sausages! We have reduced our food miles through this approach.
