Booths has signed up to support The Prince’s Countryside Fund – a unique collaboration of food businesses working together to secure a sustainable future for British agriculture and the wider rural economy.
The Prince’s Countryside Fund is the brainchild of The Prince of Wales, who has a long-held commitment to supporting Britain’s hard-pressed rural areas. The fund is raising money from a wide range of businesses, including Booths, which have responded to The Prince’s call to action to help improve the long-term viability of the British countryside and its rural communities.
The funding raised will be channelled into providing grants to projects that are delivering the three core objectives of The Prince’s Countryside Fund. These objectives focus on improving the sustainability of British farming and rural communities, targeting the areas of greatest need, reconnecting consumers with countryside issues, and supporting farming crisis charities through a dedicated emergency funding stream.
Edwin Booth, chairman of Booths and a trustee of The Prince’s Countryside Fund, said: “Booths is delighted to be backing such a worthwhile scheme as The Prince’s Countryside Fund. The Prince of Wales has always had a passionate commitment to supporting the rural communities of Britain, while Booths is nationally recognised as an industry leader for its support of regional producers. We are committed to sourcing products that are fresh from the counties we serve. At least 80% of our fresh meat comes from the region and we support farmers’ local sourcing and marketing initiatives. The Prince’s fund is a great way to help boost the sustainability of British farming.”
