A new store manager is walking down the aisles at Booths in Knutsford this week.

Ian Jacques joins the popular Cheshire branch of the family-run retailer from Ilkley and is keen to bring a range of fresh ideas to the store.

During his 21-year career with Booths, Ian has worked at 22 out of the 26 Booths stores and was trainee manager at Knutsford when it opened in November 1990.

He is delighted to be bringing his wealth of experience and knowledge back to Booths’ flagship store.

Ian says: “It’s been lovely to see one or two familiar faces from my previous three months working here. The welcome back has been great and I’m thrilled to be working for the biggest store in the Booths company.

“It’s a huge challenge and I’m excited about offering customers exactly what they want to make sure they feel a warm welcome when they come in store. I want to make shopping with us a really enjoyable experience not a chore.”

Ian plans to develop the Slow Lane area in the store and to increase the number of tastings and interactive experiences for customers.

He says: “These are things others stores can’t do so much of because of their size. I’d like to get customers more involved and encourage them to try new products, many of which are sourced locally to the store.”
Booths is dedicated to building close relationships with suppliers and because it doesn't buy in huge volumes it is able to source produce from smaller scale growers. This includes Cheshire apples from the Winsors Farm at Willington and Joseph Heler’s traditional Cheshire cheeses.
