Booths’ resident cheese expert at its Ripon Store has been sharing her expertise on the Wensleydale Cheese stand at this year’s Royal Yorkshire Show.
Juliet Hall, from Harrogate, who has been Cheese Specialist at Booths in Ripon for more than two years, also worked at the Wensleydale Creamery in Hawes as part of her initial training for the role.
The Great Yorkshire Show, which took place a the Harrogate Showground from July 12th – 14th, is one of Britain’s biggest agricultural events and was this year attended by Prince Charles and the Duchess of Cornwall as well as the Archbishop of York.
Juliet says:
“I’ve been a Booths cheese specialist for nearly two years now, and came to the role after previously running my own farm shop.
“It’s been good to bring my expertise to the Great Yorkshire Show after working at the Wensleydale Creamery as part of my initial training.”
The cheese specialists are part of an initiative by Booths to develop its staff into specialist food advisors by increasing their knowledge of products, including making, tasting, grading and cooking them. Booths believes that having experienced specialists in stores offers customers a unique and unrivalled shopping experience.
A number of Booths cheese specialists from stores in and around the county – including Ilkley and Settle - attended the Great Yorkshire Show by working on the Wensleydale Creamery stand. The experience gained at the show helps their development as cheese specialists and become more informed advisers to customers in Booths stores.
