At Booths, issues of food safety and provenance are of principal importance to our business, and take claims of this nature very seriously. We buy our standard fresh chicken from two suppliers, one of whom is 2 Sisters. We have requested an immediate and full audit with 2 Sisters, and are reviewing the issues raised with all of our chicken suppliers. Our suppliers and products are regularly monitored in a variety of ways including ongoing audits, microbiological testing and quality checks.
The Food Standards Agency (FSA) advises that customers do not wash chicken as that spreads the bacteria. The FSA says, “Thorough cooking will kill any bacteria present, including campylobacter.” All raw chicken should be cooked until the meat is white and all juices run clear.
