Husband and wife team Pam and James started making small batches of craft sauces in their home kitchen in 2014 after being underwhelmed by the mass produced condiments available in shops. Already hooked on the trend of interesting sauces that were coming into the market with punchy and spicy flavours, they felt the mainstream sauces just weren’t doing food any justice at all.
They did a little research using cook books and the internet and cooked up a small batch of Smoky Chipotle Ketchup to enjoy at home with their friends. It went down so well that they decided to make a few more flavours and started selling them at their local farmer’s market. Just like that, Sauce Shop was born.
Word spread and demand grew. James worked on the range of flavours and Pam worked on the name and branding. They left their full time jobs in the mass food industry in 2015 to pursue Sauce Shop. Over the years their team has grown from two to twenty and so have the pots and pans! Everything is hand made by the team at their site in Nottingham using good quality, “real” ingredients with no added thickeners or stabilisers. They cook, bottle, label and pack thousands of bottles a week to ensure the very best flavour is delivered to you. From the very beginning their ethos has never changed…“if it doesn’t add flavour, it doesn’t go in.”
