Peaches and nectarines

Peak season brings luxuriously fragrant peaches and nectarines, loaded with juice, from Spain, France and Italy. The white-flesh fruit look elegant and taste sweet, while the flat ‘doughnut’ varieties have a generous amount of fruit to stone. They’re fabulous just as they are – keep them in the fruit bowl, rather than the fridge, to preserve their texture and fragrance – but they can also be drizzled with honey and roasted briefly in a hot oven or sliced and added to a glass of prosecco.
