Butlers Farmhouse Cheeses

Goosnargh gold cheese served on a slate platter

Deep in the heart of rural Lancashire, Butlers Farmhouse Cheeses have been crafting exceptional artisan cheeses for four generations, established in 1932 by Richard and Annie Butler. Over the decades, the family business has meticulously handcrafted a diverse range of cheeses from traditional Lancashire recipes. They are committed to quality, ensuring that each cheese reflects the rich heritage and expertise accumulated over nearly a century.

They pride themselves on sustainability and local sourcing using milk sourced from within a 10-mile radius of their dairy, often from family-owned farms. This dedication ensures freshness and supports the local agricultural community, reinforcing their deep-rooted connection to the Lancashire countryside. Their previous Supreme Champion award-winning Goosnargh Gold is bright, buttery and mellow, just the way a good Double Gloucester should be. Each cheese is matured for 5 months allowing it to develop character and amazing texture and smoothness.
