Longley Farm

Longley Farm was established in 1948 when brothers Joseph and Edgar Dickinson inherited a smallholding on the outskirts of Holmfirth. The brothers were committed to using the best quality milk to make delicious dairy products.

In 1955 after rationing ended, Longley Farm was one of the first dairies to gain a license for producing cream. As the dairy grew, new products were developed; yogurts in the 1960’s, cottage cheese in the 1970’s and butter in the 1990’s. All of Longley farm products are made with quality natural ingredients, resulting in delicious dairy products with nothing artificial added.

The brand are committed to sustainability and in 1984, Longley Farm was the first business in the UK to install a commercial wind turbine which supplied the dairy with green electricity. Their milk is sourced from British family farms mainly across Yorkshire, including their own farm, Tyers Hall Farm, which houses 300 pedigree Jersey Cows.

Longley Farm supports the local community through two funds which provide grants every year to community and mental health projects across the local area. They have achieved various awards including Rural Business of the Year Award at the Yorkshire Post Rural Awards 2024.

You can find their delicious products on our shelves at your local Booths store.

Longley Farm’s cottage cheese stands out from the crowd because of its thick, creamy dressing and delicious natural flavour. The uses for cottage cheese are many and varied. It can be simply added to a jacket potato or salad, used as an ingredient in quiches, omelettes or pasta dishes, or if you are feeling more adventurous, baked into brownies or as an ingredient in ice cream!

Cream Cheese

Longley Farm cream cheese has a thick, creamy texture and delicious flavour. It is delicious spread on sandwiches or bagels, and is very popular for use in cheesecakes due to its thick consistency and high protein content.

Butter and Buttermilk

Longley Farm Jersey butter is made with 100% Jersey cream from pedigree Jersey cows. Jersey cream is rich in carotene, which gives the butter its distinctive yellow colour. Jersey butter is an excellent choice for baking pastries and biscuits due to its high melting point. The unique cylinder shape means it can be sliced and elegantly displayed on a side plate.

Buttermilk is produced during the butter making process, and is cultured to give it its thick consistency and unique flavour. It can be enjoyed as a refreshing drink, but most people prefer to use it as an ingredient in baking cakes, scones and pancakes.
