The Harrogate Cake Co

The Harrogate Cake Co was founded in 2010 as a patisserie in Harrogate, ran by esteemed pastry chef, Charlotte Marrifield. After working in Michelin star restaurants, she moved into developing desserts and confectionary for retail, sparking the idea for her award-winning business.
In 2015, Kevin Marrifield, joined her at the helm and they made the move to a manufacturing site in the heart of North Yorkshire. Kevin’s experienced background in food manufacturing, distribution, planning and production paired perfectly with Charlotte’s skills and knowledge – forming an incredible partnership!
It was at their new site that they began developing and producing The Harrogate Cake Co products, ranging from traditional fruit cakes to contemporary and innovative chilled desserts and cakes.
Along with Charlotte and Kevin, there is a team of bakers and patisserie chefs who make the incredible desserts and cakes daily, their dedication and desire to create perfection has led to multiple awards.
All products are handmade and packed to ensure consistency and quality with a focus on using local ingredients where possible.
The Harrogate Cake Co has worked with the Booths brand product developers and our buyers to produce Booths’ own range of desserts from individually potted puddings, large sharing cheesecakes and one of a kind Christmas showstoppers. Including the Booths Belgian Chocolate & Vanilla Cream Cheese Yule Dessert, new to the range for Christmas 2025.
They also bring our patisserie counter in stores to life, with a great range of sweet treats.
The current range includes:
- The Harrogate Cake Co Textures of Chocolate – Chewy chocolate brownie, topped with rich Belgian chocolate mousse, hand finished with a drizzle of chocolate ganache and adorned with milk chocolate shard.
- The Harrogate Cake Co Raspberry and Vanilla Macaron – 2 chewy Almond Macaron, filled with Madagascan crème, hiding a fruity raspberry compote centre, hand finished with white chocolate drizzle and a white chocolate shard.
- The Harrogate Cake Co Salted Caramel Macaron – 2 chewy Almond Macaron, filled with Madagascan crème, hiding the gooiest of salted caramel centres, hand finished with milk chocolate drizzle and a milk chocolate shard.
- The Harrogate Cake Co Creamy Rice Pudding – made with lashings of Yorkshire cream and milk, arborio rice for texture, gently cooked and hand stirred for ultimate creaminess, can be eaten hot or cold.
- The Harrogate Cake Co Banoffee bombe – shortcake biscuit, topped with a cream banana cheesecake, hiding a liquid salted caramel centre, hand finished with a drizzle of chocolate ganache and a Belgian milk chocolate scroll.
- The Harrogate Cake Co Gianduja Lolly pop – chocolate digestive biscuit base topped with Belgian milk chocolate and hazel nut mousse, hand dipped into rich chocolate and nibbed hazelnut ganache, served on a lolly pop stick to eat on the go!
- The Harrogate Cake Co Strawberry Shortcake – Buttery shortcake biscuit, topped with creamy strawberry cheesecake, concealing a secret centre of strawberry compote, hand finished with a drenching of raspberry and white chocolate ganache, adorned with white chocolate shard.
