Waterfields

Established in 1926, Waterfields is a well known family bakers with 36 shops across the North West. They’ve now been crafting baked goods for almost a century. Alice Waterfield originally set up the business as a small bakers in Mather Lane, Leigh, selling pies and sweet treats to local workers. Due to the success of Alice’s bakery it wasn’t long before her husband, Albert, came on board leaving his job as a coal miner – and the rest is history!

Their secret to success is passing down their skills and honing in their craft from one generation to the next. They are still evolving today after nearly 100 years of trading, ensuring they pass their knowledge on to the bakers of the future!

Today, the team at Waterfields have up-to-date modern facilities to help with production, whilst still remaining loyal to the exceptional quality and service that Albert and Alice had embedded in the bakery’s foundations from the very beginning.

The team work tirelessly every single day to produce a range of fresh bread, cream cakes and savories in their stores. The savories are freshly baked in store, and the cream cakes are hand finished every morning to ensure the freshest, highest quality cakes to their customers

New product development is always at the heart of the business, the team work all year round brainstorming new ideas and working collaboratively with our very own buyers and Booths branded team for lots of exciting and innovative products that often end up on the shelves here at Booths, such as our new Booths Brand bread rolls, as well as our patisserie counters, especially in time for Christmas!
