Beef Jerky
Ingredients
- 500g beef skirt
- 100ml Henderson’s™ relish
- 1tbsp salt
- 1/2 tbsp black pepper
- 1tsp garlic powder
- 1tsp onion powder
- 1tsp smoked paprika
Instructions
Method:
- Preheat the oven to 80°c/70°c Fan/176°F/Gas Mark 1.
- Freeze the piece of skirt for 1 hour which will help to cut the pieces evenly.
- Slice the beef across the grain into 3/4mm slices.
- Place the Hendersons relish, salt, pepper, garlic powder, onion powder and smoked paprika in a bowl and mix well.
- Add the slices of beef and marinate in the fridge for 4 hours
- Remove the slices from the marinade and place on a wire rack with a baking tray underneath.
- Bake in the oven for 3-4 hours until dry, turning every hour.
- Remove from the oven and allow to cool naturally.
- Place in an airtight bag and store in the freezer.
Chef’s Tip:
Add different spices for different flavour profiles. Try Chinese five spice and chilli for an oriental style or chilli and BBQ spices for a Texan flavour.
