Christmas 2018 Press Picks

As with every Christmas, the press review the best food and drink on offer to make your festive season go with a swing, and our Booths brand range is no exception. We’ve collated our top 8 Booths Brand press picks below:

1. Victoria Moore’s (The Daily Telegraph) Best Value Fizz, Booths Rosé Champagne, 75cl £26

One of Victoria Moore from The Daily Telegraph’s ‘Best Value Festive Fizz’ for Christmas wines.

A very pretty and tasty rosé Champagne, made for Booths by Duval Leroy. If you’re a Booths shopper, then note that the Booths Brut Champagne NV at £23 is also very good

2. iNews, Top Ten Best Turkeys for Christmas 2018

Johnson and Swarbrick Whole Corn-Fed Goosnargh Turkey, £12.80/kg

This lovely looking bird comes from Johnson and Swarbrick, who is better known for producing ducks for the culinary elite of the chef world. But it’s now turned that extensive knowledge into the raising of Christmas turkeys fed on a diet of corn and cereal in the Ribble Valley in Lancashire. The breast meat of these turkeys was tender, moist and compact, producing lovely even slices with a delicious sweet flavour. The leg meat was plentiful and though light in colour had a pronounced gamey taste. These turkeys are only available at Booths supermarkets and online.

Booths Award-Winning Five Piece Cheese Selection, £20

It’s hard to believe this artisan cheeseboard is from a supermarket and not a cheesemonger, with a ripe, creamy blue, fresh goats’ cheese, Montgomery Cheddar, crowd-pleasing Cornish yarg and ripe brie de Meaux.

Well balanced and bursting with flavour from the salty, tangy feta and sweet, earthy beetroot which also make for a great texture combination. The sumptuously crisp, buttery pastry flakes apart perfectly in the mouth while the pine nuts add a nutty crunch.

7. Good Housekeeping, The Best Stilton To Buy For Christmas, Runner Up

Booths Potted Stilton, £10

Presented in a traditional ceramic pot, this cheese is a creamy pale yellow, and we loved the even blue marbling throughout. The tangy and salty scent was picked up by our testers. We loved the sweet, fruited notes to the flavour and sharpness that develops on the tongue. The well-rounded flavours are complex and matured. Though quite crumbly, it’s also smooth and creamy.
