Booths L2P Rider 2024 Flora Knight

Flora is sat with a smiling expression on her bike next to a sign that says Hartside Summit Altitude 1903 feet.

I am 21 and started working for Booths last summer after graduating from Loughborough University with a degree in Sport and Exercise Science.

How did you get into cycling – any tips for beginners?

I first started cycling when I was 14, going out for rides with my dad. Since then, I have been riding and racing all over the country, racking up over 99,000 miles- nearly 4 times the Earth’s circumference!

My tip for beginners would be to wear proper padded cycling shorts- they make all the difference after a few hours in the saddle.

What’s your favourite cycling snack?

My favourite snack to have on a ride has to be a flat white and generous slice of cake from the nearest café! Failing that, a hot cross bun always goes down well.

What’s the one piece of kit that you need for a long ride?

It’s always a good idea to have an emergency energy gel in your back pocket- you never know when you might need an extra boost of energy to get you home.

Why are you keen to support Cure Leukaemia by riding the London 2 Paris?

Cure Leukaemia are a brilliant charity that do really important work funding research nurses and clinical roles at blood cancer centres. I’m really looking forward to the challenge of raising as much money as I can for this important cause, that will help people that really need it to get access to potentially lifesaving treatments.

What’s on the top of your bucket list?

I’d love to run a marathon at some point, which would be a real challenge, as cyclists don’t make the best runners!
