We’re delighted to have raised an amazing £16,379 for East Lancashire Down’s Syndrome Support Group (Registered charity number 1149790) over the last year from fundraising activities at our Central Office site and your Barrowford Store.

Each year all Booths sites nominate their chosen charity to support and for 24/25, our Central Office team and your Barrowford Store chose to raise funds for East Lancashire Down’s Syndrome Support Group.

Fundraising

With lots great schemes and fundraising activities happening across our central site and in store, we have raised an incredible £16,379. Whether it’s taking part in charity fun days, opting into pennies at the checkout or contributing to our book tables, from buying books or bringing your old books into your nearest store to donate, we’d like to thank everyone who has been part of the fundraising this year.

Every donation has made a big difference, with the funds raised covering the cost of a second Education Specialist for a year. By being able to fund another Specialist Teacher in local schools, it has given the children they support the chance to thrive in their educational setting, ensuring every child is included and has the chance to develop and grow towards future success and independence.

Social Support

The social support the charity provides has become invaluable to local families, setting up regular meetings, offering support, and organising events like their annual weekend trip to Blackpool Zoo and festive Christmas party (complete with a few elves from the Booths team!)

The Team

Throughout the year, we’ve been lucky enough to work closely with the team at East Lancs DSSG with lots of fantastic support on our fundraising events from Rachel, Lucas and Phil, including hosting our fun-filled quiz night for Central Office colleagues.

Alan Ridout, BAU Project Manager at Booths said, “I’m incredibly fortunate to be surrounded by incredible colleagues who care so much and work so hard to raise amazing amounts for charity. This years’ experience of being able to bring information and advocacy to the workplace and to support the amazing work that ELDSSG do has been second to none.”
