With skilled farmers raising great-quality animals on our doorstep, it’s a pleasure to be able to source meat from the region. Our butcher’s counters are fully loaded with enough beef, lamb, pork and chicken for a real meat feast, and we won’t take products until they are at their best for the table.

Our lamb is all British, and we have two very special products. Our Holker saltmarsh lamb is raised on the Cartmel peninsula on Morecambe Bay, where the salty grazing produces a deliciously sweet-flavoured meat. We also work with the Cumbrian fell farmers who raise Herdwick sheep, a hardy breed with a rich, gamey flavour. The farmers risk life and limb to gather their flocks in tough terrain, so the least we can do is enjoy their lamb.

We buy our beef from British farmers, many of whom are local. We also sell outdoor-bred pork, and Johnson & Swarbrick’s celebrated chickens and ducks from Goosnargh, and we make our own sausages with selected cuts of outdoor bred British pork.

Great meat deserves great cooking, and our trained butchery staff will be pleased to make sure your choice is ready for the pan, as well as recommending how long it should stay in there.
